Section 386 IPC: Extortion by Putting Person in Fear of Death or Grievous Hurt
Under Section 386 of the Indian Penal Code, anyone who commits extortion by putting any person in fear of death or of grievous hurt is punishable with rigorous imprisonment of up to ten years and a fine. Section 386 penalizes aggravated intimidation where severe bodily threats are employed to compel the transfer of property.
